An Incredible Story (02-16-08)

DelWe have an incredible story we want share with you...

On November 10-11, 2006 several members of King's Baptist Church located in Vero Beach, Florida attended our Truth Project Training Conference at First Baptist in Orlando. During the conference, the Lord deeply convicted Sue that The Truth Project could have a powerful effect on their church. She then approached their new executive pastor, Frank Ellis, with the possibility. Pastor Frank later admitted that he was not interested in any "new programs" when Sue pressed him to consider it.

However, after watching the first lesson, Pastor Frank agreed that this tool would be beneficial for every member of the church. He and the leadership of the church first went through the series together. That led to a plan to prepare small group leaders for a fall church-wide launch. They would suspend the Sunday evening service so every member would have an opportunity to attend a Truth Project small group. With a church size of 400-500 attendees, the leadership prayed that as many as 300 of their people would participate. As usual, the Lord's plans were bigger and over 400 individuals attended Truth Project Small Groups in the fall of 2007. Pastor Frank preached a sermon each week that paralleled the Truth Project topic, and they developed Sunday school materials for the children as well. It truly was a church-wide effort.

On January 12-13 we had the privileged opportunity to visit King's Baptist to see first hand how the Lord was working in the church and throughout the community.

While we were there, we captured several hours of interviews from the church staff, Truth Project leaders and participants. Over and over again, we heard moving stories of the Lord working in the hearts and minds of young and old. The most exciting part was to hear how individuals and small groups are beginning to reach out to the lost and hurting in their community.

This is just one story of how the Lord is working in many churches across the nation. Over the next several months we would like to share some of those individual stories with you. Today we are excited to introduce you to pastor Frank, Al, Amy, Mike, Rick and Tim. Over the next several months we will provide more of their individual accounts. We hope you are as encouraged as we are! The Lord is moving in mighty ways... We hope you have chosen to be a part of that movement. It is also important for you to know that none of us here believe that any of this blessing is because of us. Soli Deo Gloria!

We would love to hear from you, and hear about how The Truth Project has affected your church and community. Please write to us and we will share your story as well.

A video montage of the church's experience is attached below. If you are interested in more about King's Baptist, you can visit their website at www.kingsbaptist.org.
